Jeff, you are close enough that you should come paddling with us sometime.
Been to the Anacortes region?

Subject: baidarka Modern Greenland Kayak Question
Got a chance to view the video "Amphibious Man" a while back. Its super, in
english, and anyone interested in native kayaks and/or really trick rolls
ought to check it out (you can probably barrow it through inter-library
loan). I was left with one question though: what are these modern
Greenlandic kayakers covering their boats with? Most boats appeared to be
either white or black and entirely opaque. Apparently, most Greenlanders
build their own boats, so I suspect that whatever they're using is
relatively inexpensive and/or very durable. Any body know the answer??
