Subject: RE: baidarka Geodesic Airolite Boats - exposure to resin

Right now i am trying to decide between Putz's Walrus and the
Monfort Whitehall 12. The later would seem to be more appropriate
for fly fishing although my buddies do quite well in broad beam
kayaks. As a result I am finishing a Mill Creek 13 but want to leave
the slathering of epoxy to others from here out (at least minimize
my exposure).

Exposure to the resins is a problem. Epoxy and almost all chemical
products used for application on boats is a threat to the body.
Everybody doing the dirty jobs have to use professional protection
device. These protection devices should be marketed together with the
products. The industry should work out recommended solutions for
protection and ventilation and the equipment should be available for a
reasonable sum for hire or purchase. The responsibility should be put
on the sellers to obtain adequate solutions!!!
