Geoffrey,

I am confused by your approach. I could understand replacing solid wood
with plywood, but not the other way around. Perhaps my belief system needs
tuning up, but:

Pound for pound, isn't plywood stronger than most single wood species?

Isn't plywood stronger with respect to bi-directional stress?

Isn't it hard to acquire solid wood large enough to make the pieces you
describe?
