Useful hearing Skip's comments. I think a disclaimer about using this
method should accompany every book or article on the topic. (Definitely in
my book!).

I wonder how many people have used the method and gotten poor results
(Skip's example being but one). I have corresponded with a number of people
who wanted to apply it without thought. Took a lot of persuading to get
them to change their minds. Most repeated the common refrain, "That's the
way the Inuit did it so it must be right."

Few casual builders (casual in the sense that they won't put forth the
effort or devote the time Wolfgang or Skip or Harvey Golden et al will
devote to it to get a better perspective on the boats.
