Ladies and gentlemen of baidarkaworld, I have an announcement to make.
At long last, my frame is finished! Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I
believe I've set a new speed record, this frame coming in at just under 21
months! :-)
OK, maybe thats not a record, but I bet I'm one of the only people that has
actually finished a frame that was started so long ago. I am so amazed at
how rigid loose wobbly things can become when tightly lashed with artifical
sinew. It is utterly amazing technology.
I was quite lax in my cosmetic quality control standards while building
this-I did not spend much time on cosmetics at all, I didnt hone the
stringers to a perfect round, didnt sand the pieces to a shiny smooth
finish. I have to say, it is still such an incredibly beautiful sight to
behold that I cant believe I made it myself. My only regret is now I have
to cover up that beautiful frame with canvas. Before I do that I'm going to
take it out back and photograph it with my 4x5 camera.
The finished frame weighs in at about 23 pounds.
