Hi Lew! Just got back from Japan... amazing place. Trains that run on time
(and smooth, and faster than a 747 takes off)? Teenagers bowing to you in
the underground? No shopping malls!!!!!!! Public transportation that
works? Parks, safe and beautiful and plentiful? Beautiful mountains and
lakes and rivers and hot springs and sea coast? Hiroshima a real favorite,
so very beautiful. Fujiyama much more beautiful and wild than I had
imagined. Buddhist shrines everywhere. Ahh, man, I fell in love with the
place!

Also, flew over Sakahlin Island in the sunshine. Gorgeous mountains! I
had no idea.

Sea kayaking seems to be just beginning to catch on in Japan. They have
some active river boater groups, but I didn't see much of the sea boat set
quite yet. There are a few dealers, and I sure think it will catch on.
They need smaller boats, lighter boats over there... the Nimbus Kestrel
would be a great hull for them (is that the name? the new small glass
boat...). The Falcon 16 would be a really big boat there. But what lovely
country! And lovely people!

Attu island was home to two Aleut groups one fine boned the other heavy
boned.
