Hello All,
I've replciated the USNM kayak in Dr. Zimmerly's "QAJAQ," and found it to be
exceptional-- even paddled as a single (from the Aft hole.) It is narrow
for a double, but wide for a traditional single-- with two people paddling,
this kayak moves very fast! The only change I'd suggest is lengthening the
forward cockpit unless someone quite small will be up front all the time.
This is an outstanding kayak and ought to be very rewarding. My replica,
canvas covered, weighs a scant forty pounds, and is constructed with willow
ribs. The double in "Contributions to Kayak Studies" also looks promising--
has anyone replicated this kayak?
