I got artificial sinew from twobears, one pound costs around 16 dollars and
is probably enough for two boats. It's really nice to work with. You might
want to get the thicker(7ply) version of a waxed polyester for the heftier
lashings, as I think the artificial sinew abrades more easily especially
after the wax rubs off. By the way, I used a double lashing around the
stringers, contrary to Wolfgang's description, and I wish I hadn't, as it
made small lumps under the skin, and I don't think it was probably necessary
for strength, although there has been a whole debate on the subject of
lashings and movement recently you might want to look at.
