I guess that's something we all actually knew but did not
realize. It's like the same thing when someone asks you
"what's wrong with your paddle?" - I say "whaddya mean... a
whole country paddles with these". It's almost as if
Maligiaq was the first narrow bladed paddle we saw - there's
a whole danged country full of these kids... who all paddle
differently from each other, I might add. We've (er, mebbe
just "I've") kinda lionized the kid and everything he did
because he was featured in a magazine and video and so
forth, but I must remind myself that all the accounts of him
and his technique have all been from a very biased,
non-native, western gaze.
