Bob,

There are both plans ($15) and kits ($50) available for them at Eric
Schade's Shearwater Boats, the link to them is
http://www.shearwater-boats.com/Footbraceskits.htm

The plans for the same footbraces are available in Nick Schade's book, "The
Strip Built Sea Kayak". I built them from the plans in the book for my
brother's plywood Walrus. They are quite comfortable, very solid and easy
to adjust. I thought about them for my skinny Walrus, but I was watching
it's weight carefully. Using a deck deam footbrace I was able to keep it at
27 pounds, not bad for a 17' 8" kayak.
