Love flying Alaska Air. I always take the puddle jumper when I can. 737's
are my favorite heavy, they are just fun to fly. Typical: putzing from
Ketchikan to Wrangel to Petersburg to Sitka to Juneau... we take off from
Wrangel and the pilot comes on, says something like "hey you guys are all
Alaskans aren't yah? Let's go have some fun." He leaves the gear down,
flattens out about 1,000 feet off the water, and we do a wide slow turn over
the Stikine River delta. River filling our view, stretching off into icy
crags that sweep the entire skyline above us.
Turn left, pull the plug, and we plop down in Petersburg.

Next leg we hop over the bottom of Baranof, leave our shadow behind us as we
sweep over the glacier on the top of Bear Mountain, then a wide sweeping
high angle turn over the archipelago in Sitka Sound to a perfect touchdown
on Japonski.

they are the best.
