I used Intellicad from Cadopia to layout the bottom of my folding kayak. I
drew a nice centerline, then a number of perpendicular lines, and
dimensioned them. Tied off a long string between two nails, and placed the
pages under the string, so that the centerline lined up. Then used a tape
measure, along with the slightly overlapped pieces of paper to line up
precisely. You can also cut out a small square form the page that will be on
top in the area of the center and perpendicular lines so that you can more
easily line it up with the one on the bottom.

Once you have your drawing blocked out with a centerline and perpendicular
lines, window in on a square slightly smaller than a piece of 8.5 x 11
paper. Make sure print settings are set to print current view, all entities
within print area and 1 to 1 scale. Under advanced tab you can pick center
on page. Under print setup I generally select print landscape. I am laying
out a small dinghy model using these settings.

Any questions just ask. You really do get used to this.
