 whirling rotary tools can do the work really fast- if production is your
aim. Personally I find the noise and dust totally repellent, not why I build
boats at all. Each to their own devices. If you haven't tried a really good
crooked knife and adze you're missing a lot of fun.

Before the crooked knife I made paddles with a bandsaw, hatchet, london
pattern back bent gouge, a block plane and some of those little violin-maker
things that populate woodworking catalogs saying "buy me, buy me".. Crooked
knife more fun.

Flex in the paddle shaft? Don't leave home without it, I couldn't agree more.
