Maligiaq was incredible. I was lucky enough to be on the water a few feet
from him during his demos, and was just in awe.

My experience of the British hulls is that they are very heavy. One of my
best paddling friends here has a Shadow, and I think that rolling it with a
Greenland paddle would, for most of us, present an extra challenge. What
hull are you using? Do you have a true Greenland hull? I doubt the hull
Maligiaq used here weighed more than about 22 lbs. And from my
observations, inertia counts for a lot.

I do usually extend my greenland padle during rolls, although I believe one
should be able to do the roll without extending the paddle. John Heath is
selling a video of Maligiaq Padilla's rolling demonstration, and it shows a
whole variety of rolls, and is a great learning tool if you are interested.
