Subject: baidarka What skin treatment

My first baidarka is nearing its skin application. I have read here that
some use water-borne polyurethane. I have treated a scrap of 10oz nylon
with 2 coats of this (Flecto brand) and it seems that another 5 coats would
be necessary to fill the fabric enough to produce a smooth surface. Should
I continue or switch to the more tried and true toxic treatments. And, what
specifically are these standards? I have tried to call Dyson. His line is
perpetually busy. Jamie

Whoa, Folks!
Enough kicking around architect sterotypes! Next people will be making fun
of Engineers teaching painting!

Yea, I knew that one was coming...and deserved.
Actually I am not your typical engineer, and I often do not feel like much
of an engineer---I did not have much in common with the people I worked
when I used to work for someone else. One of the reasons I am self
employed.
The reality is my personality is not well suited to be an engineer, it is
just something that I can do well and make a living at, to finance the
things I really love to do (but are difficult to make a living at). Like
art, the outdoors (including kayaking), inventing gadgets and fun toys for
my kids, etc.
