I'm a lurker planning a Blandford 15ft double. I'm on the west coast of
Ireland and there are loads of curraghs here, mostly used for inter-village
racing. The tradition in the last century was pitch over canvas (or old
flourbags or whatever was handy. These were working boats.) I've even seen
the finish renewed with coal based sheepdip in the sixties. As I'd like to
have a similar finish has anyone tried or heard of bitumen roof paint being
used.
