Behold the pucker. I've built two badairkas, the first had a lot of pucker
because it was too loose in both directions. While the overall end result was
tolerable I could've done better with the overall tightening. On my second boat
I waited for the lowest humidity day I could get. Next, I modified an old
bumper jack and bolted it to my garage wall, attached the canvas to it with
board and bolts and stretched it a full seven inches or better before it pulled
loose. I still had pucker but it was very short and very narrow. Now when the
humidity goes up and the boat is in the water the tautness scares me (afraid it
will break the boat or rip the skin), and pucker is almost unnoticeable. My next
boat I'm going to try for stretching the canvas the maximum 9 inches ( Wolfgang,
in the book said its possible). So, try for the lowest humidity possible (I did
the lateral tightening in the family room, wife not pleased.) Use some type of
mechanical system for the longitudinal stretch. Good luck.........bk
