Thought I 'd pass this along. I called around for advice on an adhesive
to attach the rub strip to the hull of my latest boat which I had coated
with Duratuff from Titan Corporation. The Duratuff itself did not work
well as an adhesive in its tacky state. The folks at Titan do make an
adhesive they recommend for use with Duratuff. I was unable to find a
local retailer for this though. They also recommend a product called
Marine Goop which was available from NWOC and I'm sure other marine
supply stores.

I also contacted the guys at Inflatable Boats in Seattle. They seemed
very knowledgeable about what adhesives work with urethanes, hypalon and
other materials. They carry a product designed to adhere to urethane,
but it is tinted brown. Those going for the traditional look with a
tan-tinted skin might consider this product.

I used the Marine Goop which can be applied in the same manner as
contact cement. The instructions indicate that you can wait 2-10 minutes
between joining the two surfaces. My experience is that you've got 3-4
minutes at the most before the stuff looses its tack and starts to set
up. Additionally, it is very thick and does not spread well. After
wrestling with it and nearly giving up and ripping it all off, I managed
to get satisfactory results. I let the Goop cure over night and then
coated the keel strip with 4 coats of Duratuff. I'm fairly confident
that this will work well.

If I was to do this again (which I won't- in my opinion the UA7000 from
Gaco is the way to go) I would do the following:
*Cut and shape the keel strip to final dimensions
*Lay the keel strip out on the hull where you want it
*Using 2" masking tape, mask both sides of the hull adjacent to the
strip
*Roll the strip up and start from one end of the boat
*Working 6"-12" at a time, spread the Marine Goop onto both the hull and
the strip using your finger to ensure complete coverage and a smooth,
flat application (use nitrile gloves)
*Wait 2 minutes and join the surfaces, pressing the strip down fully
into the goop
*Do not get any Goop on the outside face of the strip, or anywhere on
the hull you don't want it
*Repeat for the length of the hull
*If there are problem areas you may be able to tape them down into place
with masking tape before the goop sets up
*Let cure at least over night
*Coat with 4-6 coats of Duratuff

Short of some outfitting, Sisuitl is done. I'll try to get the last of
the pics posted to the site in the next day or two. (

happy with the boat. I'll let you know how performance and stability are
once we launch.

Take care,
