I don't think I have a very clear idea of the process.

In fact, the nature of the distortions makes it almost certain that they
reproduce distortions in the actual boat.

Eh?

I've fooled around with a demo copy of Rhino some, but am not a proficient
user.

Pro-E (v.2000i2). Actually, most of the errors seem to have come from using
the gunwales to make a formed curve for the flat pattern. The shape is
right, but is very slightly scaled (i.e., when adjusted to reality, the boat
is about 3" short).
it's something I do well, so what the
>heck...eh?

Well, me too, but I find that 8 hours a day is about enough, and actual
physical manipulation of materials is all the more satisfying as a result.
When you get right down to it, real lofting is really faster on a boat this
size. It does take more room though.

Phil
