I'm keeping the temperature constant in my garage.
Today I misted and ironed the boat. First, I opened the garage doors to
bring the temp down to 50-55, to aid in skin loosening. Then I misted and
ironed. Turned out that I kinda overdid the misting, and it too a LONG time
to iron out the moisture. When I was done, I had an even drum-tighter boat
than before, even at 53 degrees. I think I was worrying about nothing.
Maybe with the heavier nylon it can be a problem, but with the 9oz at no
time did I feel that my frame or my seams were in mortal danger. Hopefully
the danger is past now, if there ever was any.
After ironing I closed brought the temp up to 70, and started sealing. 2
coats on the boat, and so far everything looks good, skin tension is fine.
I'll be up very late coating this thing, and in the morning I'll (finally)
have a kayak.
:-)
