Subject: baidarka Bamboo ribs

O.K quick question, I have a feeling somebody else may know more about this
than i do. Working in my basement garage yesterday i noticed that the
neighbour across the alley has bamboo growing along the back of his house in
the alley, i walked over and most of it is about 3/8 " in diameter. Can
someone say free rib stock? How well does bamboo hold up? Also bending it
would seem to be pretty straightforward but i'm worried about getting and
maintianing the flat part of the hull shape. Anybody have any experience with
it? Thanks in advance.
