LOL This reminds me of a canoe trip that I did 15 years ago. (oh my gosh, I
can't believe I just wrote that) We thought it would be a great way to end the
day with a little fun sliding down the snow bank on the other side of the lake
in our canoes. We had been watching some land otters do it, and we didn't want
them to have all the fun. Fun it was, then we got competitive! My last slide
was about 100 yards long and I miscalculated the little bit of side slope. I
ended up launching into the lake off a 6 foot shore edge drift. I also wasn't
paying too much attention to my position in the boat, as I tried to defend
myself from the obligatory snowballs with my paddle. Amidships is not a good
place to be if you want your bow to rise before you ship a whole boat full of
water. BTW, it was early June in Alaska and we broke ice every morning for the
first three days of the trip.
