My regards to the group. A friend and myself are both building our first
Aleut skin-frame baidarkas using Brinck's book as a guide. I'm wondering why
the sawn bow & stern blocks are only lashed at one point? It seems to invite
slipage fore/aft, rotation and probable lash loosening as they flex along
the cut line. I'm guessing that the sum total of the joints will take care
of these concerns but it seems less robust than I expected.
