Dear Peter and all,
Yes, that's a wonderful movie-- beautiful scenery and good curragh scenes.
The curraghs looked very authentic, as I'm sure they were. I've been to the
Aran Isles, and have seen some six-or-seven Curraghs-- both in the museum
and ashore, presumably still in use. Several examples I saw were
fibre-glassed, though they still had the traditional wooden frame, and were
even painted the traditional black.
I've lost track of the fellow, but someone in Bellingham was going to build
one. If your're 'listening', give us all an update on progress. I'd love
to build one, and have taken the lines off of a nice one on Aran.
All the Best,
Harvey
