Russell,
The best resource for timely Missouri River paddling information would
probably be the Fort Benton river outfitters. They're also good
possibilities for arranging a shuttle. I include a couple of websites below.
The second one has good pictures. The stretch you're talking about is
gorgeous: very flat, very slow, Class one water. Wind can be a big issue, but
canoes take it regularly, and I would think the baidarka would handle it
better than some of the highsides out there.
