Subject: [baidarka] building a two piece double

Hi all,
I really want to start building a boat, but my problem is that my
workshop allows me a maximum of 4 meters boatlength.
Now my idea is: can I build a stitch and glue double by just building
the two halves separately, in stead of sawing an entire boat up? Is it
a stupid idea or worth to try?
A second question: any info on a good design? I like a long and
narrow boat, like the Guillemot fast double or the NDK Triton. I would
use it for day trips and overnighters. I am long and skinny (160
pound), my paddling partner short and light (110 pound)
Greetings
