I have to agree with Joe. Time with the kids will never be regretted and
will seem (in hindsight) to pass too quickly. My first boat has waited
since the early 80s when I received a copy of Dyson's Baidarka book as a
gift. Kids happened, priorities changed, project time got reassigned as the
definition of "important" projects changed. Now they are almost ready to go
their own way and I'm finally getting started on "the boat". My (youngest)
15, soon 16, year old son will be helping - with time out for driving
lessons in July.

Dave (still wondering where the time went...)

Doug;

I know the feeling, I spend as much time building amateur radio equipment
and
now kayaks as well. But no project would seem worth it if ten years from
now you
look back and see your kids all independent and slipping into their own
lives and
wondering where all the time disappeared to as they grew up and you missed
it.
Every year goes faster man. I keep reminding myself of this as I tend to be
fairly 'driven' when it comes to completing projects ( and taking on new
ones at
an alarming rate :)
I salute you for putting the yak in a holding pattern for a year while the
birthday parties and games of catch and first bicycle rides play out. The
water
is infinitely patient anyways, it doesn't mind at all to wait for us!
