Paul,
There is a video associated with David Zimmerly's Qajak book. I apologize -
but I don't have the contact info handy and am a bit pressed for time. I
have seen the video and if I remember correctly it chronicles the
construction of a Bering Straights? kayak with an elder way up North. The
elder does a lot of shaping with adze and crooked knife I believe.
Definitely worth a look.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any videos documenting authentic native
construction techniques. For instance, THE VAKA TAUMAKO PROJECT

adze to construct a proa, with a video planned someday. Hopefully sooner,
and not later.
Here's a quote from their website. "The average man's carving tool kit
consists almost entirely of adze and machete." At this point in time, I'd
rather run off to Home Depot and buy the most appropritate tool. I'm
thinking a nice vid would give me some inspiration.
On the other hand, Bob Boucher's video may be more appropriate. Any other
contemporary videos out there?
