Dear All,
Thought I'd introduce my newest kayak--Just a kayak frame so-far, but a
rather nice looking one. A high(est?) sterned replica of a Greenland kayak
(Avasisartoq) from 1789. Photos can be seen on my web-page:
www.pacifier.com/~qayaq in the Greenland Replicas section. Quite the
challenge to make such a high-sterned kayak, as lister Phil Ellis has
mentioned from his experience. (By "lister", I mean he is active in the
Baidarka newsgroup, not to mean he paddles with a 'list'.)
ALSO. . . .I posted two old photographs from Kathy, my fiance's family photo
collection: A kayak from Point Barrow, (In the Old Postcard & Photos
section). And ALSO again: Photographs of a friend's 19' sailing Umiak (in
the "boats my friends done made" section-- or sumthin' like that.)
I'll keep you all posted on the launching of the 1789 replica-- I
think it'll be an outstanding kayak, having paddled similar types. Enjoy
the pics.
