Uh-huh, and functional groups are chained together to make the plastics
not unlike the way popular music uses classic motif's strung together into
vamps. Really long vamps . . . .
Then of course there's the way organic chemistry has much to do with
higher and lower energy states much like music's tension and final resolution
towards the tonic.
The notes are like atoms.
The chords are like molecules.
The progression is like the ever-changing dance of equilibrium.

The similarities are mind-boggling and go on and on.
