Yes, Klepper, Pouch and others use/used Baltic Birch, but solid ash parts glued
together were also used.
But if I got it right, John wants to bent the plywood like traditional frames
for SOF. Pouch had steambent ash frames in the past, as well as other
manufactures. I think, plywood was taken for the ease in production and if you
have not to care about the loss of space in the kayak it works well.
