Dave,
I listed the wrong kayak for Oivind Borresen. It is his "Seguin"
that uses the rope coaming lip.

Subject: [baidarka] nylon rope as a coaming rim
>>>>>I am thinking of using 3/8" nylon twisted rope for my coaming and would
like to hear from people who have used this method. Also I am using 12 oz
nylon from George Dyson for my skin. I have wet it down which shrinks it.
Is this shrinkage permanent or do I need to iron it? I didn't leave it in
the sun just let it dry in my cool basement. I wouldn't really want the
skin much tighter.

Dave,
1. Nylon Rope Coaming lip - Olivand Borresen of Norway has used a nylon rope
coming lip on one of his designs (TURSIOPS).
His site is http://home.online.no/~oborrese/English/index_eng.htm
His email address - oborrese@online.no
2. Shrinking Nylon - If you are satisfied that the skin is tight
enough after wet shrinking in the basement, then no more work is required.
Moisture is the key to nylon. If you plan to iron it, wet it down again first.

PS - I'm finishing up a new folder that is on Hendrik Maroske's personal site
at http://home.arcor.de/hmaroske/ Look under (Tom Yost FAP-16).
Hendrik is also working on a new folder. It can be found in the "Design"
section of his site.
