Zar water-based exterior polyurethane is "non-toxic". I coated my boat with
it. Since I've only paddled it once I cant vouch for its durability, though
I'd guess its at the lower end of the scale-I expect to do frequent touch
ups. It keeps the water on the right side of the skin, which is all I care
about
