I think that the reverse sheer of the north alaska
boats are held in place by the tension of the keelson
so I think that your plank might work nicely for that
boat. If I'm not mistaken there are no stems in the
point borrow boats: the keelson curves up to the point
of the bow and stern. If the vertical sides of the
gunwales are held parrallel instead of flared like the
greenland boats the finished top frame (gunwales and
deckbeams) will have no flare and the keelson can be
slightly shorter and pull the ends down. You're not
going to need but a few centimeters of reverse sheer
anyway. I forgot where I saw a picture of a point
borrow frame but I'll look over my resources to double
check and try to send a picture your way if you say
you'd like one. It's probably a picture you have like
from Zimmerly's site or something. -John Haynes
