Just as I suspected I saw the diagram of the Kotzebue
sound/ point Borrow kayak on Dr. Zimmerly's great
site. He has a diagram in pdf along with many other
types. Great resource if you haven't happened upon it
yet. Looks like the gunwales have a slight normal
sheer and flare before the keelson pulls the reverse
sheer into it. A second opinion on sheer shape
construction would be helpful as I know that some of
the kayaks in the arctic were created by carving the
gunwales into intricate shapes before putting the
parts together such as the bearing strait verieties.

As for my next kayak I'm thinking cape espinburg or
kodiak or aleut. I haven't narrowed it down yet. For
pipe dreams: two three hole kodiak kayaks lashed
together catamaran style with a sail for blue water
cruising. I'm not particularly motivated to actually
do this but it puts a smile on my face when I'm
falling asleep at night.
