Robert Morris's book on SOF kayaks has one boat you may want to consider and
that is the North Alaska Recovery kayak. It is about 10 feet long and good
way to get started in SOF construction. He originally published the boat in
the Oct 98 issue of Seakayaker as well. I think you can still get reprints
for the article. The wood he used in the article was Alaskan Yellow Cedar, if
I remember correctly.
