Help,
I have just finished my first kayak frame and I would like to skin it using
cotton/canvas. Could anyone offer advise on which fabric I should use. I
was going to order it from settlefabrics.com. They had the following two
listing:
#1. 10 oz. Canvas
A single-filled, natural untreated canvas in natural color. 10 oz per sq/yd.
$3.75/yd
#2. #10 Duck
A natural canvas that gets its name from two cotton threads that cross each
other, forming the number sign (#). This is called double-fill canvas. It
is great for artist's canvas, boat decking, duffel bags, painted floor
cloths and more. Natural, untreated. 14.75 oz/sq yd. $6.50/yd
Selection # 2 seems to be what I want...but I am not sure. Will it be too
heavy for a 12ft boat?
Thanks,
Greg Anderson
