Others on this list can explain the details of kayak origins, but can't
the present day use of small paddling craft for recreation be traced back
to John MacGregor in England and Nathanial Bishop here in the USA?
Although I believe they were aware of eskimo kayaks, they both designed
their own boats for paddling. And neither was skin-on-frame.
Aren't folding kayaks the first skin-on-frame boats used for
recreation? That way they could fit on trains, right?
