Other posters can hopefully give you details on other areas as well, but
kayak use continues to this day in Greenland. There is some information on
the Qaannat Kattuffiat (the Greenland Kayaking Association) at
http://www.qajaqusa.org. The Qaannat Kattuffiat is widespread in West
Greenland, including the Polar Eskimo (Northwest Greenland), but to date has
little contact with the East Greenlanders (due primarily to travel costs).
Please feel free to contact me and I can offer some contact information of
English-speaking Greenlanders associated with Qaannat Kattuffiat, that might
wish to help you.
