Hey, I looked up gacoflex on the web, but didn't see any reference to
translucence. Is this a particular shade, or is it just the effect of
thinning it? I'm in the very early stages of building my boat (setting of
the gunwales and spreaders), but plan eventually to cover it with nylon
and probably gacoflex for max strength (that new book on skin boats
recommends water-based polyurethane varnish, which would look really,
really cool, but I don't know anything about its abrasion resistance--any
reports on this?). A translucent skin would be really nice if it
wouldn't compromise longevity.

My Coho had the same tendency so I installed a drop skeg and it fixed it.
