Douglas,
How are you planning to outfit the seat and side cushioning? I've built
the same boat but haven't decided how to pad it out.

I have painted boats with Neoprene and hypalon products by Gaco and with a
non water based two part polyurethane product by Smith and Co. at
wwwfiveyearclear.com The neoprene is black and the hypalon is tintable.
Both
neoprene and hypalon are opaque, toxic but easy to apply . as the paint
drys
it shrinks making brush strokes and sags magically disappear. Abrasion
resistance is fair and any deep scrapes are easy to patch by simply
slopping
some more paint on. Shelf life is long with this product.
The polyurethane (pu) is pricier and just as toxic but is translucent.
Boats
painted with it can look too white and translucent so I painted my boat
with
coffee and tea before applying pu. It came out brown and leathern looking
and still translucent. The pu is trickier to apply because of its
sensitivity to moisture and temperature during application. my boat has
quite a few drips and sags which seems to be a common trait among boats
painted with this product. my boat is still new so I cant talk from
experience but others claim it (pu) is much more durable than neoprene and
hypalon. a buddy with a pu boat that is about 10 years old swears by it.
His
boat has taken a beating and is stored outside and the pu is holding up
better than my neoprene/hypalon boat of the same age.

squirty S.O.F. surf kayak in the works, you might call it a retrieval
