Hey All: I built the Bering Strait 2-hole kayak shown in Zimmerly's book. I
DID modify it by adding 12 inches between the cockpits. This made the boat
19 feet 4 inches long. I didn't paddle it as much as I wanted (the year got
away from me due to several surgical procedures on my finger) but the little
I used it proved to be quite satisfactory. Reason I added the extra length
was to get away from needing to paddle in synch with the forward paddler> I
owned a double Klepper at one time and the distance between paddlers proved
to be a MAJOR problem between me and I wife. This MUCH better. Russell
