Any idea what is in that redressing compound? Someone later on in this
thread mentioned beeswax (did I miss a message somewhere?). Also, I have
read that sailors used to use pine tar mixtures on sails and rigging back
in the day (something like Uncle Billy's Old Time Wood Oil)--anybody know
if this stays flexible on canvas/cotton?
Incidently, if you want cheap leather protective gear for biking, try a
welding supply store. They sell simple leather jackets for probably a
third what your Harley dealer does. Of course welders don't need a great
big belt to keep the jacket from riding up to your armpits as you slide
feet-first down the pavement at 70mph.
