PC,

I may have mixed up my terminology. What I call the frames are, in the King
Canvasback plans (see link below if you want to see the boat to understand),
made of plywood and have stringers (what I was calling "ribs") attached
longitudinally along the boat.

My intention to fill the gaps between the stringers is strictly for
aesthetics, and if there are very valid reasons for not doing this, and I
mentioned stability as one, then I may not. Since I intend to cover it with
a PVC coated fabric that is opaque, I am only concerned about the look of
the frame that cane be seen from the cockpit.
