Hello Patrick,

sad to hear the assembling time for you with the Khatsalano.
My folding kayak builds up in 30-35 min which I still find to long.

Flying to the US was no problem in 1995. I had about 55kg incl. boat and
gear for
a summer trip on Vancouver island. This included my
boat-caddy, which is a great help on airports, etc..

For trips inside Europe things are quite different due to the luggage
limits you
have mentioned.
And as I have a short car (~3,5 m) and long boats ( > 5,20m)
a folder comes sometime handy, especially on greater distances. (There is a
length limit in Germany which limits you for not more than a 100 km radius.
If I
remember it right, your boat or other gear on your roof may not exceed 100cm of
your car length for less than 100km and not more than 150cm at all.

Cheers,

Gerald
