This is what I did when we replaced our old one-car garage with a two-car
garage a couple years ago. My further suggestions are to use marine
hardware for the pullies (cheek blocks, in particular, are handy for
changing the direction of a line), and to bolt a small boat trailer winch
for each boat to the wall studs to raise and lower it. As I recall, a
small, 600-pound capacity winch costs about $30 and has about a 30:1 power
ratio.
