Hello Randall, everyone.

I'm at about the same point with my Greenland kayak, following Petersen. I
read on David Zimmerley's Arctic Kayak site, in the article on building the
East Arctic kayak, about soaking and drying the skin after sewing to shrink
it. I tried a test with an offcut in hot water and it shrank by 10% when
wet! However, once dry it was about 5%. I intend to try this when I've
finished sewing. Anything that helps get the skin taut has got to be good,
and I suspect it would be difficult to get it too tight.

This is only my second boat, so I really know nothing! But I'll let you know
what happens.

Richard (Best)
