Subject: [baidarka] VHF Radio Question

A couple of years ago, I bought a Horizon Standard HX350 hand-held VHF
radio. It worked fine for a season, then quit transmitting.
I sent it for warranty repair, but that lasted exactly 20 min out on the
water. They initially said that it had internal water damage and asked
if I had gotten it wet. (It is a submersible radio). I could return it
again, but I have little confidence in the factory service. (They said
they could not guarantee waterproofing post-factory service).
What is the collective experience out there for radios? Does anyone have
a better recommendation?
