Subject: [baidarka] Shape for a comfy cockpit coaming

I'm trying to lay out the shape for my cockpit coaming--how circular have
other people made theirs? I've been fooling with a wood batten, trying to
come up with something that has a slightly flatter back, but it's hard to
get anything that the batten will bend smoothly around. Seems to me that
having the back flattened a bit from a true circle would make it a more
comfy backrest. Also, do you set your coamings back a bit from the front
of the backrest deckbeam? Seems to me that would make it easier to lean
back.
