I made some not long ago and simply glued the tubing into a "sleeve" of
fabric at the corner of the float bag. This is especially easy if one side
of your bag is folded over. the position of the tube at the corner also
keeps the tubing tucked between ribs and stringers and not flopping around
bothering your feet like the tubes on commercial bags that are centered. For
a valve I used a tapered wooden plug. I followed the instructions in sea
Kayaker Magazine. One last thing is that I prefer separate dry bags for
storage. Its easier to organize, If one leaks your eggs are not all in one
basket and it is easier to stuff filled smaller bags into the ends of your
boat via the cockpit rather than trying to jam one large tapered bag full of
gear. If you are on a trip and make camp you can keep your gear organized in
bags at camp and still have your simple flotation bags for your unloaded
boat on a day/side trip (the same bags that were inflated on top of the dry
bags in the previously loaded boat to displace water and to hold the dry
bags in place.
